One user liked that there’s a difference between tunneling the whole device or just the browser most VPNs only offer a browser, as far as he knows.

Psiphon seems to offer more features than comparable VPNs.

Two testers looking at the Play Store were impressed that Psiphon had 10 million downloads and a good rating from users.

The Psiphon user community is impressive. Too much loads at the beginning and when loading a new page, particularly with the SSH tunnel option.

A technologist from Zimbabwe, where bandwidth is low, and a Tor user from the US praised Psiphon’s speed and lightweightness.

Many were fine installing it on their own devices. Participants were asked whether they were willing to install the app on their own devices, or whether they preferred to use mine.

In all, about ten people participated in testing (some of them chiming in on others’ sessions). They were from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Mexico, Spain, Lebanon, and the United States, as well as a few Cuban expats. Participants included human rights workers, lawyers, journalists and journalism students, an American business owner who regularly does business in China, and a digital security trainer who works across the Arabic-speaking world. I stopped after the first few tests to check in with Psiphon about issues with the ad network on the ad-supported version, and to ensure I was running the test in a way that would be useful to the team. I performed these user tests in October-November 2015 (with the ad-supported Android Play Store version of Psiphon) and March 2016 (with the emailed Android version). This report makes references to annotated screenshots of the Psiphon Android interface and a mockup of proposed changes to the interface. Psiphon makes it possible for users in censored regimes to get their software by sending an email to which auto-responds by sending copies of the software.
